Dia 08/Day 08 - Barco

Quarta-feira
16 de maio

Oi Galera! Tudo bem???? Okay vamos lhes contar! Nós fomos a pescar!!!!! Fomos pescar Piranhas literalmente no Rio Amazonas.

Hi guys! Is everyone doing well??? Are you ready to hear about today’s adventures? They were very cool! Do you know why? No! Okay, we’ll tell you. So today was our third day on the boat and we woke up super duper early (05:30 am to be exact) to watch the sunrise! Which unfortunately was a BUST! But only because there were sooooo many clouds that we were unable to actually see the sunrise. Definitely was a waste of time, and we lost an hour of beauty sleep! However, we were able to get it back because they let us sleep until 8:30. Can we get a hallelujah? *screams hallelujah* It’s never too early in the day for God to answer your prayers, right!? We awoke from our slumber to the smell of boiled eggs and fresh fruit. Everyone rushed to eat some of the deliciousness the amazing crew had waiting for us. After breakfast, we took off to our first destination, a native village in the Amazon. While there, we visited a local school and we were able to meet the students and learn a little about how they go about their days. It was really amazing to be able to experience this. After our visit to the school, we headed to a local market where we made and bought some jewelry made of natural seeds from the açaí fruit. So now we’re not only eating it, but we’re wearing it too! They say the first step to recovery is acceptance... so with that being said...My name is Latifa Smith and my name is Gracie Galan and we’re addicted to açaí (send help.) After our stop to the market, we had some free time to play football, volleyball and swim with the local people. We then headed back to the boat to have lunch. Which was so delicious. Round of applause for the chefs! (They definitely held it down in the kitchen!) After lunch we rested for an hour before heading to our next stop. Can anyone guess what it was? Going once... twice... okay we’ll tell you! We went fishing!!!!!! (And the crowd goes WILD)!! We know you guys are probably thinking, HUH?! Fishing what’s the big deal about fishing? But, this wasn’t regular fishing, we were literally in the Amazon river fishing for piranhas. That’s right piranhas! Amazing right? We know! (Wish we could say we caught something, but unfortunately that’s not our calling) After our interesting evening fishing for piranhas, things only got more exciting! We went alligator watching/catching. This was one of the coolest things we’ve done the whole trip. Some people were terrified *cough, cough Gracie* But who wouldn’t be right? It was alligators after all. But it was definitely way more fun than we thought it would be! The alligators were so sweet and welcoming. We were out looking for alligators for almost three hours, out tour guide Samuel, was amazing he allowed us to try and actually grab the alligators out of the water. Everyone had an amazing time, but unfortunately we had to finally call it a night and head back to our boat. When we arrived everyone was waiting to eat dinner. After dinner we had a short meeting just to recap our day and then talk about what we’ll be doing tomorrow. It was a really relaxing way to end our amazing Wednesday.
